AIDS Epidemiology

چکیده
Thompson’s AIDS epidemic model, which is formulated in his article “AIDS: The Mismanagement of an Epidemic,” published in Great Britain, 1989, does not reflect female infective population that has been growing. While the majority of AIDS patients were assumed to be male homosexuals, Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that the percentage of infected females through heterosexual contacts has been increasing. The model is improved by adding new terms for female population to Thompson’s existing model. With this improved model, public education for susceptible and infective populations is suggested as an approach to stop the AIDS epidemic.
